Bulldogs,
We are officially in the final leg of the 2023-2024 school year. In this monthly newsletter, I will be addressing our state End of Course (EOC) exams. EOCs are taken in the following courses: English 2, Algebra 1, Intermediate Algebra, Biology 1, US History, and History 202. These are statewide assessments developed for specific courses. These exams must be taken in order to earn credit for the course. Scores from the test will be counted as 20% of the final grade in the aligned course. EOC test items are written to assess the knowledge and skills described in the academic standards (visit
to access all state standards). NHS students and teachers have been working hard to ensure that students are ready for these assessments by practicing standards-based instruction and analyzing data so that we can target specific areas of strengths and needs for individual students. In addition to classroom instruction and Flex time tutoring, students can attend content-specific tutoring sessions to better prepare for their EOC after school in the library. Below you will find data from last year’s EOC assessments and our goals for this year.
Area | Report Card Category | 22-23 Pass Rate | 23-24 Goals |
---|---|---|---|
Algebra I/Intermediate | Academic Achievement | 71.5 % | 75% |
English II | Academic Achievement | 71.2 % | 75% |
Biology I | Preparing Success | 33.1 % | 50% |
US History and the Constitution | Preparing Success | 39.7% | 50% |
