COMMON SENSE MEDIA -- (Anti Cyberbullying & Online Safety Awareness)
October is Bully Prevention Month. In order to help bring awareness about the harmful effects of bullying, MCHS students in grades 9-12 took part in the Common Sense Media curriculum during the weeks of October 20th -October 24th. The Common Sense Media curriculum helps bring awareness regarding the effects and consequences of
cyberbullying and the importance of practicing digital citizenship on the web.
The lesson topics were as follows: 9th grade- ", What You Send In "That Moment When … "; 10th grade- "Countering Hate Speech Online"; 11th grade- “Online Disinhibition and Cyberbullying”; and 12th grade- "The Consequences of Online Hate Speech". Overall, students gained awareness regarding appropriate online behavior and maintaining online safety and privacy.
