We're excited to share that Boundary Street Elementary will be partnering with the Newberry County Family YMCA for our afterschool program this school year! This is a new program for Boundary Street and will replace our previous partnership with the Boys & Girls Club.
The program will provide homework help, creative activities, active play, positive role models, and opportunities for students to build friendships in a safe and supportive environment.
If you're interested in afterschool care for your child, please review the flyer below for registration information and contact the YMCA directly with any questions.
We look forward to this new partnership and the opportunities it will provide for our students and families!

The South Carolina Department of Education partners with the Education Oversight Committee to deliver a parent survey. The responses to this survey help school and district leaders understand how parents feel about the school. In addition to their report cards, all students in grades K-12 will bring home a letter today, Tuesday, March 17th. The letter contains a QR code that can be scanned with a cell phone. All other information needed to complete the parent survey is printed across the bottom of the letter. If you have multiple children, you may get several letters. We are only asking you to complete one survey for each school your children attend. You are permitted to complete one survey for each of your children if you so choose. Surveys must be completed by Friday, April 17th.

Montessori Parent Interest Meeting
Wednesday, February 11
6 p.m.
at Boundary Street Elementary School
INDIVIDUALIZED - Montessori is a hands-on discovery approach to teaching and learning. It tends to discourage traditional competitive measurements of achievement, such as grades and tests, and instead focuses on the individual progress and development of each child. Children of different ages share the same classes and are encouraged to collaborate and help one another.
SPECIALIZED - Specialized educational materials are used to keep children interested, and there is an emphasis on "practical life skills." The main goal of Montessori education is to provide a stimulating, child-oriented environment in which children are mastering the South Carolina state standards.
The Montessori program in Newberry County serves ages three through fifth grade at Boundary Street Elementary, Gallman Elementary and Newberry Elementary School. Students must reside in the zoned school to be eligible for Montessori.

If your child is attending Summer Reading Camp, Boys and Girls Club Summer Camp, or Extended School year at Boundary Street Elementary, please note: Tomorrow (Monday, June 9) Coates Street (where you usually enter the school) will be CLOSED due to a very large tree that fell during the storm. As of now, for Monday ONLY, the one way entry on Boundary Street (that you usually exit the school from) will be both the Entrance and Exit. Boys and Girls Club and Extended School year will still drop off at the gym and the 'Out' building...you will just enter backwards from the norm.
Please use extra caution as there will be plenty of people helping direct you where to go.

Boundary Street Elementary is proud to announce our 2025 Teacher of the Year and Support Staff Employee of the Year!
Teacher of the Year: Mrs. Stephanie Parnell
Mrs. Parnell is a phenomenal 3rd grade teacher whose heart, patience, and talent shine in everything she does. After teaching 5th grade last year, she gracefully transitioned to 3rd grade — and will move to 4th next year — all to meet the needs of our students. Her classroom is a calm, welcoming space where every child feels seen and supported. Known for her timeless style, kind spirit, and unwavering love for her students, Mrs. Parnell 's impact speaks volumes. We are beyond lucky to have her at Boundary!
Support Staff of the Year: Mrs. Cristal Rendon
Mrs. Rendon is the heartbeat of our front office. As our receptionist and PowerSchool clerk, she handles everything — answering calls, buzzing in visitors, comforting sick kids, juggling lunch drop-offs, and tackling every “Can you help me real quick?” moment with a smile. She also helps bridge communication with our Spanish-speaking families with compassion and care. Whether it’s a panicked parent, a last-minute change, or a random lost shoe — Mrs. Rendon gets it DONE. She is the calm in the storm and a true Boundary hero!
Please join us in congratulating these two awesome women for the incredible work they do every day!
